Wife, Mama, Nurse
Learning to live simply in the rhythms of motherhood.
“As I looked around at my toddler, my newborn, and my flat surfaces covered with clutter, I knew something needed to change”
Hey, I’m Tori! A wife, mama of 2 littles, and a nurse, learning how to live simply in the rhythms of motherhood. When my son was born in April 2023, we had 2 under 2 and the transition was HARD. Despite the prep work I’d done to get ready for baby and postpartum healing, I quickly felt the clutter in our home caving in on me.
Simple home content had me craving organization, acrylic bins, and cleanliness for my home. My husband has always had more minimal tendencies, but I was the impulse buyer in our marriage. I was easily influenced by social media consumption and trying to keep up with the current trends.
We made a few trips to the donation center around the holidays when there was a large influx of items into our home or when I got on the occasional decluttering kick. But it was all the “easy stuff”, the one in, one out items that weren’t difficult to part with. As I looked around at my toddler, my newborn, and my flat surfaces covered with clutter, I knew something needed to change. I already felt so much chaos in my day trying to care for my family and I knew it would only get worse when my maternity leave ended. The clutter had to go and I desperately needed some routines.
I found so many tips on social media for decluttering, organizing, and forming daily habits, but many of these content creators have been at it for years. I am just starting out and want to invite you along this journey to a more minimal home. We have 2 young children and live in a 1900 square foot home in Northern California with a small backyard. We don’t have a basement, usable attic space, or even a hall closet, so we must be intentional about what we keep as our family grows.
I dream that this blog will serve you with inspiration and empower you to start simplifying your home. I’m not an expert, but I have found that decluttering is often easier with someone by your side. My home still has drop-zone piles and bins that do not match. I’m learning how to keep a home and set up rhythms for myself, my marriage, and my kids, while working as a nurse and decluttering along the way. Let’s simplify our homes together, one drawer at a time!
