Pregnancy can be incredibly beautiful and difficult at the same time. As we prepare for the arrival of a new baby, so much of our focus is in making sure our home is prepared to welcome this new baby with all that they could need. During that process, it’s important that we celebrate the expectant Mama to be as well. All of these gifts are items just for Mama that I used during one or both of my pregnancies or would have loved to have!
Pregnancy Journal – Taking some morning moments to sit with a cup of coffee, write in this journal, and commemorate my pregnancy experience was such a sweet time. With places for photos, question prompts, and spaces for long form letters, this journal provides a beautiful space to hold memories of the journey.
Honest Mama Bump Love Bundle – Pregnancy changes a body drastically, especially our skin. I noticed that as my skin stretched it was so itchy and uncomfortable, especially during the winter months when it was already dry. I loved the Honest Oil for moisturizing my belly.
Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth – This book is not just for the homebirth mamas! I birthed both my babies in an academic medical center, because that’s where I felt most comfortable. I truly believe that no matter where you choose to give birth, it doesn’t have to be scary. This book, filled with empowering stories of women birthing their babies, helped me to let go of the fear of birth and prepare for the experience, rather than be scared of it. A beautiful read, no matter what your birth plan is.
Stanley Cup – Along with pregnancy and breastfeeding comes the need for a lot of hydration. I’m 7 months postpartum, breastfeeding, and still wake up in the middle of the night parched. This cup at my bedside keeps the water ice cold for hours. There’s a reason this one is so popular and it’s worth it!
Birthing Ball – I worked with a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist during my second pregnancy and part of that work included birth position practice and prep. My PT helped me learn different laboring positions and which felt most comfortable for my pelvic floor. When I was at the end of my pregnancy and finally in labor, I borrowed one from my sister. I was so thankful to have a birthing ball to help me labor at home for longer. I’ll definitely be purchasing one next time!
Prenatal Massage Gift Card – This would have been such a treat! It’s hard for me to pay for self-care trips like this for myself, so I would have loved the opportunity for some “me” time. Help that expecting mama take care of her body with the gift of a Prenatal Massage!
Mama Bracelet Stack – These are so fun! I wear my stack daily to keep my kid’s names on my sleeve at all times. I’m so proud of my little stack and so thankful for my babies! If the expectant mama has a name planned that would be fun to add, if not you could stick with personalized bracelets like “mama”, “baby boy”, “baby + last name”, etc.
Mady By Mary Custom Jewelry – this small business has so many sweet, customizable, and beautiful pieces. I have gifted this great quality jewelry in the past and they have been loved by the recipients. A custom piece would be an incredible gift for the expecting mama to wear during her pregnancy journey and after baby arrives.
Claw Clips – these have become an absolute hair essential for me. Less damaging than a rubber-banded top knot and they keep my hair neatly out of my face without all the flyaways. Combo packs are so nice to make sure there is always one handy.
Kindred Bravely Pajamas – This brand has soooo many good quality pieces. I wear their Nursing & Pumping Bra almost every day, but a set of their pajamas would be a lovely gift. Their button up sets would work for pregnancy and postpartum and the material is so soft. Perfect comfort for mama and for snuggling baby.
Slippers – Can you ever go wrong with a new pair? Cozy slippers, that are easy to put on and take off are an essential. I lived in slippers throughout Pregnancy and still do in my postpartum mom era.
Hiccapop Pillow Wedge – I was not a lover of the giant pregnancy pillow. I know that many people love it, but it just felt bulky and hard to maneuver around, especially when trying to turn over. However, I always needed to wedge a pillow under my belly for support in the later months and this small lightweight one would have been perfect.
Shower the Pregnant Mama in your life with love and a gift just for her this holiday season. This is a special time in her life and she deserves some self-care!
